Race Across Paris: An Odyssey in the Heart of the French Capital

Ultra-cycling comes to Paris. Experience semi-autonomy, for an incredible ultra-distance race. Bike-packing around Paris. 

 This new edition of the Race Across Paris promises to be a breathtaking adventure, transforming the City of Light into a vast adventure playground for cycling enthusiasts, offering a striking route through the iconic avenues, picturesque alleyways and green spaces for which the city is famous.

1000 km route: Crossing Paris and the surrounding area.

 

The 1000 km route starts in the Hauts-de-France region, renowned for its magnificent panoramas. The route is divided into two loops: the first takes cyclists to Paris and Rouen, renowned for their technical routes and iconic sites. Then it's on to the Ardennes, where participants will discover the charm of the Belgian border and its historic villages.

1st track: From Chantilly to Rouen (513 km, 3240m D+)

This first part of the route takes cyclists through some legendary sites:

  • Chantilly Castle Discover the historic heritage of the town of Chantilly and the architectural beauty of its château, a veritable jewel of French heritage.
  • Traversée de Paris: Take advantage of the new bike paths set up for the 2024 Olympics and explore the city in complete safety. Admire iconic monuments and let yourself be seduced by the capital's charm.
  • Notre-Dame Cathedral in Chartres and Rouen Notre-Dame Cathedral: Visualize the Gothic architecture and incredible atmosphere of Chartres and Rouen, cities where history and art meet.
  • Parc naturel régional du Vexin: Between hills, forests and valleys, discover a uniquely picturesque setting, where biodiversity blends with a rich cultural and historical heritage .
  • Forêt de Montmorency: Enjoy a calm, unspoilt environment, where nature reveals itself in a soothing setting.

2nd loop: Chantilly and return (522 km, 4170m D+)

From Chantilly, this 500 km loop explores the Ardennes, with their rolling hills and natural landscapes, offering spectacular views and quiet roads for cyclists looking to explore the beauty of nature.

  • Château de chantilly Discover a veritable treasure trove of French heritage, with its splendid architecture and breathtaking gardens.
  • Soissons A town with a rich historical past, Soissons reveals its fascinating heritage through monuments such as Saint-Gervais Cathedral and its Gallo-Roman remains.
  • Ardennes Regional Park Discover the park's wild, unspoilt landscapes, where forests, rivers and hills create an exceptional setting.
  • Reims and the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park The Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park: marvel at the grandeur of the cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover the hills covered in vineyards and forests, offering an exceptional setting.
  • Oise-Pays de France Regional Nature Park On your way home, enjoy the unspoilt beauty of the park, a land of forests, ponds and picturesque villages.

500 km route: The Ultra-Resilience Double Loop

For those wishing to try their hand at ultra-distance cycling with logistical support, the 500 km route around Chantilly is ideal. Comprising two loops, it allows cyclists to return to the Chantilly refreshment point, ensuring optimum logistical support. 

Highlights :

1st loop ( 210 km, 1350m D+) :

To get you off to a good start, the first 200 km loop takes you through the Oise Regional Nature Park, before heading for Villers-Cotterêts. You'll then continue up towards the forest of Compiègne, and finally complete your route by returning to Chantilly.

  • Château de Chantilly: Discover the timeless elegance of the Château de Chantilly, a jewel of French heritage, with its impressive architecture and immense gardens.
  • Sainte-Maxime Bridge: Explore the historic site that links the banks of the river and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
  • Château d'Aramont : Discover Château d'Aramont, a charming building nestled in a green setting.
  • Massif forestier de Compiègne: Come and explore one of France's largest state-owned forests and marvel at its architectural and natural beauty.

2nd loop ( 309 KM, 2700m D+)) but also the unique loop for 300km participants

  • Domaine du Lys Chantilly : The perfect place for history and nature lovers. Forested landscapes offering a calm atmosphere conducive to relaxation.
  • Passing through Paris: Use the new bike lanes of the 2024 Olympics to pass Paris safely and discover symbols like the Arc de Triomphe. Immerse yourself in the capital's charm. Sacré Coeur Basilica, Montmartre : Discover the national emblem and let yourself be seduced by Parisian architectural charm.
  • Bois de Boulogne: Its vast avenues lined with forests, lakes and gardens offer a soothing experience in the heart of nature, while remaining close to the capital.
  • Parc régional du saint cloud, A former royal estate, discover the park with its French gardens, fountains and view of the Seine.
  • Beauvais : discover the city's charming medieval streets and soak up the authentic atmosphere of this historic town.

300 km route (309 Km, 2700m D+): Immersion in Paris and its surroundings


For cyclists looking for impressive scenery without committing to extreme distance, the 300 km route is an excellent compromise. The route crosses the unmissable 2024 Olympic cycle paths and the city's historic monuments, offering breathtaking panoramas. See details above.

Gravel Trail: Discovering Hauts-de-France

For gravel enthusiasts, the Race Across Paris offers three distances (200 km, 

100 km, 50 km) to explore the emblematic landscapes of Hauts-de-France. 

These itineraries are an opportunity to discover the region from a different angle, between nature and nature.

  • With this Race Across Pariscyclists will experience a unique adventure, combining physical challenges with the wonder of the region's diverse landscapes. From the majestic forests of Chantilly to the historic charm of Beauvais, this route reveals an authentic, rich and lively France. An unmissable event for ultra-cycling and wilderness adventure enthusiasts!

Timed segments. 

For the Gravel, Mass Start is organized. All riders are ranked according to their performance on timed segments positioned along the course. This system allows participants to wait for each other, ride together and challenge each other on these segments. Another way of looking at racing.

200 KM course (215 Km, 1400m D+) : 

  • Oise-Pays de France Regional Nature Park An ideal terrain for cyclists in search of varied landscapes, between forests, hills and rivers.
  • Domaine de Chantilly : a true haven of peace, with majestic tree-lined avenues, ponds and formal gardens offering a unique blend of history and nature.
  • Forêt Domaniale de Hez Froidmont : A true haven of peace for nature lovers, with its varied landscapes and rich biodiversity.

100 KM course (109 km, 700m D+ ) : 

  • Oise-Pays de France Regional Nature Park Oise-Pays de France: ideal terrain for cyclists in search of varied landscapes, between forests, hills and rivers.
  • Domaine de Chantilly : a true haven of peace, with majestic tree-lined avenues, ponds and formal gardens offering a unique blend of history and nature.
  • Beauvais Discover the city's charming medieval streets and soak up the authentic atmosphere of this historic town.

50 KM course ( 55 km, 250m D+ ): 

  • Parc château de Chantilly : a true haven of peace, with its majestic tree-lined avenues, ponds and formal gardens offering a unique experience between history and nature.
  • Former Aumont quarry : discover this fascinating place, offering breathtaking scenery.
  • Forêts d'Allates: winding trails and a wild atmosphere, it's an ideal playground for gravel.
